Vote Hand Count (Reader/Emily)
REPUBLICANS ON THE COCHISE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ARE PUSHING TO HAVE ALL BALLOTS COUNTED BY HAND IN AN EFFORT TO PROTECT AGAINST POTENTIAL VOTER FRAUD IN THE UPCOMING ELECTION.
THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE INFORMALLY SAID THE COUNTY COULD COUNT ALL EARLY AND ELECTION DAY BALLOTS BY HAND. THE SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE DISAGREED. IT ISSUED AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT DEEMING ALL THE EARLY VOTE TALLY ILLEGAL, OK-ING ONLY AN ELECTION DAY HAND COUNT.
ON MONDAY, AN INDEPENDENT GROUP FILED A LAWSUIT AGAINST COCHISE COUNTY AND SEVERAL OF ITS OFFICIALS TO HALT A FULL HAND COUNT OF EARLY BALLOTS
THE COCHISE COUNTY RECORDER BELIEVES THAT THE ESTIMATED 50,000 BALLOTS CAN BE COUNTED BY HAND IN TWO DAYS . THAT’S DESPITE EVIDENCE FROM OTHER COUNTIES WITH SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES BEING DELAYED FOR WEEKS.
ACCORDING TO STATE LAW HAND COUNTS ARE USUALLY LIMITED TO A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF THE VOTES. IT ALSO REQUIRES PARTY CHAIRS FROM AT LEAST TWO RECOGNIZED PARTIES TO PROVIDE A LIST OF PEOPLE TO HELP COUNT THE VOTE. NO MORE THAN 75% OF THOSE COUNTING CAN BE FROM THE SAME PARTY. THE COUNTS WOULD BE IN ADDITION TO THE OFFICIAL MACHINE TABULATION.
THERE’S NO EVIDENCE IN ARIZONA OR ELSEWHERE IN THE U.S. THAT FRAUD, PROBLEMS WITH BALLOT-COUNTING EQUIPMENT OR OTHER VOTING ISSUES HAD ANY IMPACT ON THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OUTCOME.
EV money saving report (Autriya/WRAP)
TEN OF ARIZONA’S LARGEST MUNICIPALITIES COULD SAVE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS BY TRANSITIONING THEIR GAS AND DIESEL VEHICLES INTO ELECTRIC ONES. THAT’S ACCORDING TO A NEW REPORT BY THE ARIZONA PUBLIC INTEREST RESEARCH GROUP EDUCATION FUND.
CRONKITE NEWS’S AUTRIYA MANESHNI, HAS MORE ABOUT THE BENEFITS THIS TRANSITION BRINGS.
———–
ARIZONA’S CITIES AND TOWN COULD SAVE NEARLY A TOTAL OF 80 MILLION DOLLARS IN LIFETIME VEHICLE OWNERSHIP COSTS BY RETIRING GAS AND DIESEL CARS IN THEIR FLEETS WITH ELECTRIC VEHICLES.
DIANE BROWN IS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE ARIZONA PUBLIC INTEREST RESEARCH GROUP EDUCATION FUND.
“One of the largest barriers that municipalities have cited in the past has been the up front cost of owning an electric vehicle. The good news is that federal legislation has helped to drive down the initial price tag.”
THE BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS AND JOBS ACT AND THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT ARE TWO EXAMPLES OF LEGISLATION THAT PROVIDE INCENTIVES FOR OWNING EVS AND CREATING INFRASTRUCTURE AROUND THEM.
THE REPORT SAYS THE 10 MUNICIPALITIES CURRENTLY PAY MORE THAN 110-MILLION DOLLARS EACH YEAR FOR FUEL AND MAINTENANCE COSTS.
“Not only are there cost savings associated with moving to electric vehicles, but the air quality benefits and the reduction of pollutants such as carbon are also significant.”
BROWN SAYS BY MAKING THE TRANSITION TO ELECTRIC VEHICLES, PHOENIX ALONE COULD SAVE MORE THAN 25-MILLION DOLLARS OVER THE NEXT 10 YEARS.

Coyotes win (Autriya/Reader)
THE ARIZONA COYOTES BEAT THE FLORIDA PANTHERS THREE TO ONE SECURING THEIR FIRST WIN AT MULLET ARENA ON TUESDAY. COYOTES GOALTENDER KAREL (KOH-REL) VEJMELKA (think like vegetable and then mehl-kaw), EARNED THE FIRST STAR OF THE GAME, STOPPING 41 OF THE PANTHERS’ 42 SHOTS ON GOAL. THE EMOTIONAL WIN HAPPENED ON THEIR ANNUAL HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT…WHERE THEY HONORED VICE PRESIDENT OF HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT, MATT SHOTT (like shot of whiskey) WHO PASSED AWAY FROM THE DISEASE IN 2021.
Waymo Airport rides (Autriya/C&C)
THE AUTONOMOUS DRIVING TECHNOLOGY COMPANY, WAYMO, LAUNCHED ITS FIRST-EVER RIDE-HAILING SERVICE AT PHOENIX SKY HARBOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ON TUESDAY. A SET OF TRUSTED TESTERS CAN HITCH A RIDE IN THE FULLY-ELECTRIC CARS FROM SKY HARBOR’S 44TH STREET SKYTRAIN STATION.
AUTONOMOUS SPECIALIST DRIVERS WILL BE BEHIND THE WHEEL AT FIRST…BUT WAYMO WILL START TO PHASE OUT THE DRIVERS IN THE WEEKS TO COME.
AMAN (AW-MEN) NALAVADE (NO-LOUDEH), THE PRODUCT MANAGER FOR WAYMO, SAYS RIDERS CAN HAVE A PRIVATE RIDE-SHARE EXPERIENCE THIS WAY.
“So eventually, when you have a car with no driver, it kind of feels like your private space where you can listen to your music, you can have the conversations on the phone that you want, you can feel safe. It’s kind of just an experience for you to have that’s quite different than what is offered today on the market”
NALAVADE (NO-LOUDEH) SAYS THEY HOPE TO LET TRAVELERS TAKE A RIDE IN THESE FUTURISTIC CARS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
